show Abstracthide Abstract
Rhodobacter sphaeroides is a non-sulfur purple photosynthetic bacterium, capable of growing photoheterotrophically on a variety of compounds and often used in bioremediation. The type strain 2.4.1 does not denitrify, but strain IL106 is well known to do so. To establish the phylogenetic position of IL106 we determined the genome sequence.
